Technical Service Technician (Asphalt Chemist)

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Technical Service Technician is responsible for the activities concerning the technical assistance to the customers and end users in modified asphalt applications such as paving and roofing. Duties include trouble shooting, formulations, assistance in the development of new products/applications, development of product specifications, evaluating product performance, dealing with customer complaints, and providing plant support in regards to customer requirements.

 

REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS

• B.S. Degree in Chemistry or other science discipline.

• 5 years of experience in polymer analysis and, asphalt modification formulations.

• Basic knowledge of products (rubber, plastics, or other chemical products) used in asphalt (road and roofing) is required.

• Should have a working knowledge of ASTM, PG Binder analysis, SUPERPAVE binder grading, ISO, and other basic laboratory procedures and regulations.

• Willing to work in a lab environment and travel (including international travel) at least 25% of the time. 

• A self-starter able to work without daily supervision to achieve timely project objectives.

• Good presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills are needed to resolve issues for mutual success.
