Instrumentation, Controls, & Analyzer Engineer (ICA) Engineer

Houston, TX

Salary: Up to 130K

 

 

DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Will oversee the IC&A maintenance/reliability initiatives and interface with the appropriate maintenance and manufacturing groups to ensure the highest level of safety, productivity, work quality and reliability for all instrumentation, electrical and analyzer maintenance/reliability activities.

  • 90% of job will be overseeing troubleshooting, repairs, calibration, and new installation tasks for instrumentation and controls work. Drive instrumentation reliability by reviewing recent failures and history to provide recommendations for improvement.

  • Analyze bad actors and Top 10’s to drive improvements for instrumentation.

  • Evaluate and maintain the PM strategies for instrumentation equipment.

  • Recommend spare parts for reliability-critical equipment. Develop and implement instrumentation safety and skills training for Maintenance personnel.

  • Contribute to the ongoing development of instrumentation standards that will maximize reliability, efficiency, design, and minimize required spare parts inventory. Review and update procedures.

  • Identify capital projects necessary to maintain and improve the plant instrumentation.

  • Submit project requests to Project Engineering and assist in implementation of the project.

  • Lead development of future automation projects through oversight of strategy, design, programming, maintenance, and HMI software/programming. Install, remove, perform maintenance and design for implementation of control/interlock strategies as well as troubleshoot and correct (hardware and software) problems for DCS, PLC, PI, and Process Control Networks communications.

  • Evaluate the Control Systems PM programs and provide technical support by identifying and presenting alternatives and recommendations.

  • Assist I&E Supervisor and Technicians in troubleshooting instrumentation issues. Support Turnaround activities. Provide guidance with calculations and design safety instrumented systems (SIS).

  • Oversee troubleshooting, repairs, calibration, and new installation tasks for analyzer work. 10% of job will be assisting in troubleshooting, repairs, calibration, and new installation tasks for electrical work.

  • Assist I&E Supervisor and Technicians in troubleshooting electrical issues.

  • Will interact with other technical groups on site, corporate technical peers and vendors as needed to resolve problems and improve the overall plant reliability and performance.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

  1. B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering.

  2. 3+ years of engineering experience in IC&A.

  3. Computer skills required. Knowledge of a broad range of industry standards including NFPA, API, ASME, and ISA standards.

  4. Knowledgeable in all types of industrial instrumentation and process control loop systems. Basic knowledge of inline process and environmental analyzers and their functions.

  5. Skilled in interpreting electrical diagrams/schematics and loop drawings. Skilled in Instrument, Controls and Analyzer terminologies and maintenance processes.

  6. Strong experience with industrial computer systems, motor control, PLCs and DCS. Experience with analog and digital signals, HART Protocol and process communication network systems.
