Salary: $140K - $185K + Benefits + Relo + Up to 15-20% Bonus

 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Instrument Team Leader executes and drives all maintenance activities on the team. Responsible for first line instrument supervision work performance and accountability. Removes roadblocks for team and provides clear work directions. Supports operations by providing timely and reliable repairs that comply with company standards. Drives and supports contractor maintenance personnel.

 

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for site Instrument Technicians.

  • Responsible for the daily schedule execution.

  • Mentoring Instrument First Line Supervisors.

  • Responsible for craft job performance, sets expectations, give feedback, and issues discipline.

  • Coordinating approved schedule breaks and working them into the schedule, working with the scheduler to keep a credible evergreen schedule.

  • Working with the craft trainer/SME to drive craft consistency and best practices across the plant.

  • Responsible for ongoing craftsmen training and development.

  • Directing contractor work when required.

  • Participating in the daily and weekly schedule in partnership with the Scheduler.

  • Supervising and coordinating workload among Instrument First Line Supervisors.

  • Assisting managing approved emergency work orders, and coordinate with the Scheduler to adjust the schedule accordingly.

  • Identifying and locating material, tools, and/or equipment shortages during work execution.

  • Taking personal responsibility for safety and demonstrating visible leadership by leading and participating in safety meetings, audits and by setting an example of safe behavior and sound decision making.

  • Ensuring resources, equipment and work processes are in place to maintain compliance with company required standards and regulatory policies; conducting audits to enforce compliance.

  • Administering, with HR and the Superintendent, the labor contract as it applies to Maintenance personnel and related issues.

  • Executing the PM and MI programs per company standards.

  • Providing technical guidance and strong leadership to the craftsmen.

  • Constructively resolving priority and conflict issues.

  • Documenting any updates or corrections to equipment files or p.m.’s.

  • Working Turnarounds as required.

  • Expected to temporarily backfill positions on the team as needed.

 

REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.

  • 5 or more years of refinery or equivalent industry experience.

  • 5 or more years of experience in refinery maintenance in electrical and instrumentation equipment.

  • Must have extensive knowledge of operating conditions, equipment histories and electrical/ instrumentation equipment specifications.
    Legally authorized to work in the job posting country.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Must maintain a Valid Driver’s License.

Preferred:

  • Working knowledge of SAP modules.

  • Understanding of labor contracts and experience with a represented workforce.

  • Demonstrated writing & oral communication ability.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of safe work practices.

  • Overall knowledge of the Sweeny Refinery Operations/Maintenance.

  • Ability and willingness to perform/comply, with or without a reasonable accommodation, with the following:

  • Ability to climb, stand, crawl, in confined space entry.

  • Ability to maneuver through process areas containing pumps, towers, compressors, piping systems, etc.

  • Ability to wear refinery required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

  • Ability to work extended shifts and respond to after-hours call outs.

  • bility to work in outside weather conditions including cold and heat.

  • Clean shaven daily so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly.

  • Proven strong leadership skills.

  • Intermediate level of working knowledge with IEC.

  • Maintenance experience with instrument systems and analyzers.

  • Ability to interpret SIL calculations.

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Demonstrates strong problem-solving skills.

  • Accepts ownership, is accountable and delivers on commitments.

  • Strong technical knowledge and ability to apply practical solutions in the field.
