This position functions as part of the Plant Engineering team to support the Operations and Maintenance staff at a chemical manufacturing facility.


As part of the Engineering team, the Process Engineer will provide design engineering and troubleshooting services, resulting in improvements to personnel safety, environmental stewardship, production rates, efficiency and product quality.


Required Qualifications

BS Chemical Engineering from ABET accredited university required.
5-12 years of experience in chemical process industry (Five years in-plant experience in process/production engineering and Five years in-plant experience in project development & execution.)
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to communicate with internal customers, peers and managers. Strong application skills and experience with process and project engineering tools.
Demonstrated success in problem solving, project development and execution.
Proficient in Microsoft Office IT environment - must have strong presentation skills sufficient to communicate thoughts succinctly to management.


Job Responsibilities

Provide process engineering expertise to initiate and develop assignments. 

Have substantive knowledge and experience in chemical processes and unit operations, heat & material balances, process control philosophy, process equipment specifications, process hazard analyses and economic evaluations Develop assigned projects take assigned concepts and clearly outline the objective and alternate solutions, determine the requirements and justification, and review with our internal customers. Lead the review and evaluation of various alternates with stakeholders and come to a consensus path forward. Firm up project requirements, capital & operating cost estimates, document the justification, and develop funding request packages. Executes assigned projects, Prepare project execution plans. Work with in-house or outside engineering resources on design. Lead equipment, materials, and construction procurement efforts. Manage project scope and cost. Coordinate construction efforts. Coordinate commissioning efforts. Support PSM efforts, such as process safety information, hazard reviews, management-of-change. Provide technical support to Operations & Maintenance. Provide EHS leadership within area of influence.
